Background & Mission

Accessing local public information in the Philippines has historically required navigating fragmented government agency websites, unsearchable multi-page PDFs, or relying on word-of-mouth. As part of the volunteer-led BetterGov Philippines initiative, Better Trece Martires was built to democratize open data and simplify citizen interactions with local government.

Open Data Engineering

The platform aggregates and normalizes verified public datasets from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA PSGC & PSOC), Department of Budget and Management (DBM GAA 2020–2026), Commission on Audit (COA), Department of Energy (DOE), and DPWH. Raw data is transformed into human-centered, responsive interfaces accessible on any device.

Architecture & Accessibility

Built using React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, @bettergov/kapwa UI tokens, and Leaflet OpenStreetMap. It features zero ads, zero tracking scripts, bilingual English/Filipino localization, and strict WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance.
